POLICY FOR MISSING OR LATE WORK
Homework
will be accepted without penalty if it is turned in before 3:30 p.m. on the day
it is due. PLEASE NOTE: This rule is on a situational basis.
Work
that was assigned for homework may be accepted ONE day after it is due ONLY
with an official justification, e.g., a school
notified/excused absence. Any work turned in beyond one day will
result in a 10% deduction/penalty to the late assignment grade.
Leaving
home early for a medical appointment does not excuse you from work assigned
that day.
REMEMBER: It is your responsibility, as a
student, to collect and turn in all missed assignments if you will not be present
in class.
Class Policies & Expectations
Attendance: Please
attend school daily. Student attendance remains the number one factor affecting
the overall achievement of students. In fact, good attendance is the number one
issue that businesses identify as making a good employee.
Promptness: Please
be seated quickly, with writing material (pen/paper) on your desk. Use the time
before school, lunch, after school to use restroom or drink water.
TARDY POLICY
Class starts promptly
at the assigned time. All students entering the classroom after the door is
closed will be counted tardy. All tardies will be documented, unless the
student enters class with an official tardy slip from the Front Office. Use the
time before School, Recess, or After-School to turn in work for other teachers
or visit with counselors.
The following
procedures will be followed without exceptions.
1st Tardy: Warning
2nd Tardy: call home
3rd Tardy: reported to office
Passes
Wait until attendance has been taken before asking to leave the
class. You will be able to use ONLY one of the following passes ONCE per
class period: bathroom, office, or nurse pass. Do Not Use the 8th Grade restrooms, nor the downstairs
restrooms. If you are caught where you do not belong, your privileges will be
taken away for the remainder of the six weeks. Always sign out/in in the RR log
and report any issues immediately so that you are not suspected of anything.
Behavior Expectations
Respect yourself and
others. Exercise self-control at all times. Offensive language will NEVER be
tolerated. You are always expected to behave properly and respectfully, as young
ladies and gentlemen.
Plagiarism
will also not be tolerated, so please, always cite your sources.
If you have a question
about how to do this effectively, I will be more than happy to help you.
PLAGIARISM POLICY
Neither
plagiarism (offering the work of another as one’s own without proper
acknowledgement) nor any form of cheating (e.g. illicit possession of
examinations or other materials, using unauthorized notes during an exam, etc.)
will be tolerated.
Plagiarizing from the internet is also prohibited.
Students found to violate these standards of integrity are liable to serious
consequences, including a grade of “F” for the assignment
and a discipline referral resulting in detention.
Attitude
You will be expected to actively participate in classroom
discussions, and informal/formal presentations during the semester. It is very important
that you are supportive of each other, maintaining a positive attitude about
your peer’s opinion. You must also be expected to always be respectful and
attentive during presentations. You will be working in groups in several
assignments, so getting along with everyone and keeping an open mind is
important. You are expected to participate in every exercise and assignment
presented to you in class. Attitude will play a vital role in how successful
you will be, and in how much you learn.
